What does God really want?

A relationship.

And religion.

Religion: latin word meaning to be bound - like a slave. We are no longer slaves to sin but to Christ and are expected to act like it.

this is the paradox of our faith - one of many actually. We are children of God calling him Abba or Daddy but also his slaves, building his empire here on earth through work - slave labor.

It's both relationship and religion. Without one the Christian is lopsided with license or legalism.

What do you think?

Slaves are in bondage, yet I don't really feel that way in my faith. I feel more like a servant that is free (to choose). To willingly give myself, and my time, to the Lord is not binding if it is done for His glory. If it is done for anyone other than God, it does not (necessarily) glorify God.

When I think of religion, and what it means to me, I think of man made guidelines for participating in the worship of a god (of institutional or cultural choice). Not necessarily (always) the living God of Abraham and His son Jesus.

Yes, we as Christians, are to follow Christ as our example. Being born again, makes the impossible task, more possible, but certainly not fully achievable without perfection, and unfortunately none of us are that (yet). Until then, God gave me all the knowledge I need in the Word, and through my salvation, the wisdom to understand it and desire to apply it to my life.

The skinny: My relationship with God, is my religion.
